Sitting Room

The small sitting room off the master bedroom was used by Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. Roberts as their own personal haven. The ladies were responsible for making up the menus for the cook, corresponding with family and friends and a million other little jobs that needed to be attended to each day. On the small dresser is a large pin cushion full of hat pins used by the ladies to keep their hats in place but there was also another valuable function for these long sturdy pins: to dissuade the unwanted attention of an over ardent young man.
